While Our Campus May Be Closed Distance Learning B
Mrs. Harvey and one of her JP students make a test run of our distance learning program.

Dear Families and Friends of the Carden Country School,

Thursday, March 12th, Governor Inslee announced that all K-12 schools in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counites were to be closed through April 24th.  Although not mentioned in the national media, the proclamation also included the Bainbridge Island School District.

But although our CAMPUS may be CLOSED, our SCHOOL is OPEN!

Therefore we will be implementing distance learning across all grades beginning Monday, March 16th.

While we are experiencing a difficult and challenging time in many ways, and nothing can replicate the interaction and instruction at a Carden teaching table, we at Carden Country School are doing everything possible to ease the burden of school closure while ensuring the continuity of learning and engagement. Each class and teacher is different and therefore, how learning will continue with their students may take different approaches. But teachers are preparing to ensure that learning continues moving forward and that an extended school closure does not merely mean an extended vacation which creates a black hole in a child’s learning.Teachers have created learning packets for their students and plan to have regular check-ins and contact with each of their students.

Mr. Harvey's class had successful video conferencing this morning at 8:15! The bell was rung and a variety of tests and lessons were completed. Yes, there are bugs to work through and it is a work in progress, but school happened for them, and they all had a positive attitude and feel confident that learning is continuing.  Mrs. Harvey also had lessons with her students remotely, which also proved very successful.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to me, Mrs. Rohl, or your classroom teacher.  Please rest in confidence and peace at the Providence of God, and continue to pray for the health and safety of our nation, our families, and our little school, and that God be glorified in all we do.

Gratefully,
Christopher Harvey
Headmaster
